Fossil and Osteological Comparative Lab

The Fossil and Osteological Comparative Lab is a teaching and research space that houses more than 350 casts and osteological specimens for teaching and research.  The paleoanthropological collection includes hominin crania and postcrania from a wide range of taxa from Africa and Eurasia (e.g., Homo erectus, Neanderthals, and Homo sapiens) as well as several Miocene apes (Sivapithecus and ‘Proconsul’/Ekembo).  The collection also includes specimens from a number of extant animal taxa, ranging from lion (Panthera leo) to skunk (Mephitis mephitis) to alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), with apes (gorilla, chimpanzee, and orangutan) particularly well-represented.
