Research Interests

Yu-Hsiang Wu is a PhD student at the Department specializing in medical anthropology. His research investigates how transnational labor migration structures impact migrant workers’ health-related experiences in Taiwan. He examines how immigration policies and labor precarity shapes migrant workers’ perception of health, health outcomes, and healthcare access.

What sparked your interest in Anthropology/Archaeology?

I fortunately stumbled upon medical anthropology during my undergraduate days at Brandeis University. My honors thesis advisor strongly pushed me to pursue my research on Filipino migrant domestic workers’ health in Taiwan through an anthropological lens. The process inspired me to go down the rabbit hole at the broader intersection of migration, labor, and health.

What do you do in your downtime?

I play basketball with a passion. I just started bouldering, too!
