Research Interests

I research secularization and unchurched spirituality. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods to infer causes of religious decline in various places around the world. I have conducted secularization research among North American spiritual groups like Wiccans and Druids, and also traditional religious groups like the Amish. I have also worked with Pew Research Center to measure religious change around the world.
