Research Interests

My research interests include studying childhood archaeology and 18th-century material culture, particularly how wars impact cultural materiality, especially for children.

About

What sparked your interest in Anthropology/Archaeology?

My interest in archaeology was sparked by my love of history and my experience as a history teacher.

What do you find most interesting about your field work/research location?

What I find most interesting about my work is that children are often overlooked as an integral part of society in historical narratives. I love uncovering their stories to highlight how important children are to our past communities that we are studying.

What is your most memorable experience in the field so far, or most memorable lesson learned?

My most memorable field experience took place in the Florida Everglades. As we ventured through waters inhabited by snakes and alligators, my fellow classmates and I couldn’t help but laugh hysterically at the situation and the camaraderie we shared. Archaeology can often involve digging in the dirt, but sometimes it also means navigating through snake-infested waters in the Everglades!

What do you do in your downtime? Share something interesting about yourself!

I love reading and going to the movie theater!
