Professor Shoreman-Ouimet Featured in UConn Today article

Assistant professor of environment and human interactions with UConn’s Department of Anthropology and associate director of UConn’s Institute of Environment and Energy (IoEE) Eleanor Shoreman-Ouimet has been featured in UConn Today article – Perfect Storms: UConn Research Team Shining Light on Extreme Weather Preparedness in Connecticut. This article covers topics such as aging volunteers, limited resources, and ‘everything’s fine’ thinking that potentially contribute to serious problems in the face of disasters. Additionally, work from the Designing Interdisciplinary Science And Strategies To Enhance Resilience, or DISASTER, research team is featured. This multidisciplinary UConn team has been conducting in-depth, ethnographic examinations of the state’s preparedness disparity, social vulnerability metrics, infrastructure, and perceptions of risk and support for more than eight years.
